Lynn Lester
Managing Director - Events, The Drum
Lynn has been working in media and marketing for over 21 years and has spent 16 of them helping The Drum become one of the largest industry titles across the world, with the underlying purpose of helping their audiences to make better decisions.
Her global remit has allowed her to expand the live events division internationally, with events now being hosted in New York, Singapore, and London, bringing together thousands of attendees from across the whole spectrum of the industry’s ecosystem. She spends much time working on strategic partnerships with some of the biggest tech giants, agencies, and brands.
Recently she led the team who transformed the live events division in just over one week, to become a commercially viable and engaging virtual events entity.
She is a professional emcee and has hosted +170 events including Content and PITCH stages at Web Summit, Global Ace Awards New York, DoubleClick Bid Manager Awards (a Google company) and many of The Drum’s flagship awards and conferences.
Previously Lynn worked for News International (now News UK) and Business a.m. in commercial, promotional and circulation roles.
But most importantly, she is a proud mum to her eighteen-year-old son and two beautiful cats called Bella and Milo.
Clare Sutherland
Event Director, Global Awards & Recognition, Legal Week / ALM Media
Clare has worked in events for over ten years and for the Legal Week brand for six of those. Her current role as Event Director, Global Awards & Recognition involves strategy development for a worldwide portfolio of twenty-six awards.
Chris Edwards
Head of Awards, LMG Events, Euromoney
17 years of experience across event formats from roundtables to LSEs, awards and hospitality has given Chris a unique perspective of what success looks like. Starting with an agency on production and design delivering trade shows and exhibitions then a move to awards and conferences with Wilmington. Chris spent 4 years with the awards team at Emap two of which in Dubai launching new products. After returning he spent the 5 years with Procurement Leaders running their awards and event operations across an international portfolio. Chris has also worked as Head of Events with the British Retail Consortium, Awards Director on the Health Service Journal and is now with Euromoney looking after 30 international awards events across the legal portfolio.
Helen Horton
Director of Events, Haymarket Media Group
Helen has been in events for over 25 years. A member of the Senior Leadership Team of Haymarket Business Media, she is the Director of Events focusing on the Awards & Forum portfolio. With over 22 years of working at Haymarket, Helen has been core in the transformation of the live events business for Haymarket Media Group.
A highly motivated, experienced producer and director of events, who, as a well-rounded events professional, is an experienced team leader with a proven ability to run a diverse range of profitable events. Helen has extensive event, team, organisational and logistical skills combined with production experience in the UK, Europe, MENA and the US.
Currently with 21 people in her team they are running events globally in Haymarket’s B2B and B2C markets, ranging from 250 attendees at a C&IT Forum up to 1,200 attendees at Media Week Awards held at the Great Room, JW Marriott Grosvenor House, the team run over 55 events a year.
Melissa Irving
Group Event Director, Construction & Engineering EMAP
Melissa Irving is Group Event Director for the Construction & Engineering and Healthcare & Local Government portfolios at EMAP Publishing Ltd, a content, subscription and networking business, representing a host of industry leading brands across construction, health, local government, fashion and architecture. Melissa joined EMAP in 2006 as an Executive Conference Producer and now holds a senior position managing operations, marketing, telesales and content teams across awards, conferences and bespoke events. With 17 years event experience, Melissa has a keen eye for new product launches and continues to deliver exceptional year on year performance for events serving Construction News, New Civil Engineer, Ground Engineering respectively, Nursing Times and the Local Government Chronicle.
