Best Awards Event Production on the Night
Ascential and Showcase AVi – World Retail Awards 2017
The brief and objectives given was to transform Ascential’s event “World Retail Awards (WRA) 2017” by enhancing the delegate experience, creating an impactful and impressive affect through the Audio Visual Technology design that would immerse and engage the audience whilst overcoming the following challenges. Firstly, being in the same venue as the previous year, secondly, being restricted to using the same space that was used for the main World Retail Congress (WRC), and thirdly, having a 60 minute time slot between the main congress finishing, and the WRA Awards starting.
The purpose of the WRA 2017 was to award the very best retail initiatives, so from a production perspective it was imperative to reflect this theme of innovation and creativity. The technology used exceeded the objectives and this has been demonstrated in the following ways; testimonials from attendees of the World Retail Awards, feedback from the WRA team and statistics showing the overall customer satisfaction (NPS) for World Retail Awards.
Crain Communications – Plastics Industry Awards
The Plastics Industry Awards are firmly established as the forum for recognising and rewarding excellence in the plastics industry. Held annually, the event rewards innovation and exceptional performance from the best companies and the best people in plastics design and manufacturing in the UK and Ireland.
In 2016, the awards dropped their traditional comedian host in favour a whole night of themed theatrical entertainment that started as soon as guests arrived. Against a background of austerity and a considerably reduced production budget in 2017, the organisers set out to build on the previous year’s success with an even more dramatic and dynamic event production based around a Masquerade theme.
Unparalleled in the plastics industry, the awards were highly acclaimed by guests, winners, industry event supporters and commercial sponsors alike. Combining business networking, entertainment and pure fun, the event has become the highlight of the plastics industry calendar. More than 600 people attended in 2017, maintaining the event’s popularity against a background of austerity for the publishing company that runs the Awards. Crain Communications is now preparing to launch a similar event in North America, where the company is headquartered.
Make Events – Virgin Trains East Coast – Red Hot Awards
Virgin Trains East Coast operates a fleet of 45 trains on the main line between London and Edinburgh. With over 3,400 employees covering 22 million journeys per year, the company has a large and diverse workforce.
Since 2015, Make Events has worked with Virgin Trains East Coast to celebrate and reward outstanding performances within the delivery team, ensuring that all levels of employees are recognised from train drivers, station teams and their office-based support teams.
For the 2017 awards inspired by a unique activation previously run by Virgin Trains East Coast featuring the new Azuma train travelling alongside the ‘Flying Scotsman’ and trains from the current fleet line celebrating the Past, Present and Future, the Make Events creative team suggested a projection mapping piece be integrated into the awards event design to tell the brands story from the Flying Scotsman to Azuma
Our creative team were particularly inspired by the mezzanine windows within The Boiler Shop as the internal structure mimicked the look and feel of train windows and provided the perfect backdrop to display a significant sized projection and bring the Virgin Trains East Coast story to life.
Max Live Events – The British Hairdressing Awards
The British Hairdressing Awards has always been one of our flagship events. It is the “Oscars” of the Hairdressing Industry
The event involves a stunning production design, two catwalk shows, an A list host, band and the awards themselves. All of which have to be meticulously rehearsed, and stage managed on the night.
This year’s production design was complicated; a tracking moving video wall, with variable opening speeds and widths, custom circular truss portal with moving lights, vinyl topped stage, large projection and multiple cameras. All ready for rehearsals 8 hours from start of install.
Max Live Events has an incredible, highly talented and respected technical team to achieve this.
It’s a high profile/ high pressure event.
We squeeze more into a 24-hour period, then in theory should be possible.
This is down to the quality, professionalism and sense of humour of the Max Live Team
It is an event which we are truly proud to produce.
Metropolis and Corporate Events – AV Awards 2017
The AV Awards is just one of the events that we produced for Metropolis in 2017 and is the largest awards show in the AV industry’s calendar. In their 19th year, the awards looked to recognise best practice, reward innovation and celebrate excellence within the industry.
William Reed’s and Corporate Events – Publican Awards 2017
The Morning Advertiser’s Publican Awards for William Reed Business Media are established as the biggest event in the pub industry’s calendar. After the 25th anniversary event, last year expectations were high so this year’s production needed to once again exceed expectations. Having worked with William Reed for so long we’re lucky in that they put a lot of trust in our creative and technical experience, helping us to create a stand out event for their guests and sponsors.
