23 Events – The Wedding Industry Awards

The Wedding Industry Awards (TWIA) was established to recognise and reward excellence in the wedding industry and to help engaged couples make better educated decisions when booking supliers for their weddings.

TWIA is independent, client-voted and rigourously judged ensuring that they are the most coveted and respected awards in the wedding industry. As a result, the TWIA logo is a kite mark of the highest quality nationwide and recognised by both wedding suppliers and engaged couples alike.

Chamberlain Dunn – Advancing Healthcare Awards Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland’s hidden health heroes

We took an already complex multi-professional event and made it more complicated by creating a bespoke version for Northern Ireland. Our Advancing Healthcare Awards for allied health professionals and healthcare scientists is a well-established UK-wide event, but with little overlap of sponsors and with themes determined by the Department, this was a new event, under an existing banner.

It was at our risk, their choice of themes and categories, our sponsorship efforts, shared marketing – and a professional conference during the day not necessarily for the same participants. Attracting entries was not a problem but sponsorship did need creative thinking to pull in supporters from local healthcare organisations, professional bodies’ charities and commercial companies. A robust two-tier judging process ensures that decisions were fair and transparent.

Three years on we have a viable event which is due to be repeated this year. Its unique because it enjoys government level support, for an often overlooked group of healthcare professionals who help diagnose, treat and get patients back on their feet again in a part of the UK that has higher than average levels of illness and disability.


IR Magazine – IR Magazine Awards – Europe 2017

IR Magazine is the leading publication in the investor relations community, and our awards have been the definitive hallmark of IR excellence and best practice for over 20 years. The IR Magazine Awards – Europe recognise and celebrate the success of those individuals and companies within the IR community that are leading the way across the region. Our awards have traditionally differentiated from others, in that the winners are identified by in-depth research and any publicly traded company is eligible to be considered. For the first time in 2017, we introduced self-nomination categories which proved to be highly successful, resulting in increased attendee numbers and increased event profits.


Make Events – Virgin Trains East Coast – Red Hot Awards

Virgin Trains East Coast operates a fleet of 45 trains on the main line between London and Edinburgh. With over 3,400 employees covering 22 million journeys per year, the company has a large and diverse workforce.

Since 2015, Make Events has worked with Virgin Trains East Coast to celebrate and reward outstanding performances within the delivery team, ensuring that all levels of employees are recognised from train drivers, station teams and their office based support teams.

In 2017 Make Events were delighted to work with Virgin Trains East Coast to design an awards evening that harnessed interactive entertainment combined with attention to detail in the food and drink menu and a creative Past, Present and Future projection mapping piece to create an enjoyable and memorable experience for all employees in attendance.


Services for Tourism – South West Tourism Excellence Awards

  • The South West Tourism Excellence Awards have seen year-on-year development since they started over 18 years ago, and now form a year-long quality development programme for the South West’s premier industry.
  • In 2017/18 they attracted a record 647 entries, all of them free, with feedback going to every entrant to help them further develop their business.
  • The programme culminated in a high profile Awards event in Torquay on 1 February 2018, attended by 451 guests, making it the biggest annual gathering of regional tourism businesses. 123 Trophies were presented on the night and the #SWTAwards event hash tag was trending in second place on Twitter, achieving a Twitter reach of 227,923 accounts
  • The aim always has been to ensure the Awards’ financial self sufficiency, attract increasing entries and develop the awards into a year-round scheme that enhances the quality of tourism businesses in the region.
  • All entrants receive free feedback, thus demonstrating the transparency of judging and giving suggestions on how businesses can further enhance their quality.

Welcome to Yorkshire – White Rose Awards

The Welcome to Yorkshire White Rose Awards is the largest celebration of tourism excellence in the UK. Our awards recognise and reward the very best of the industry throughout Yorkshire. The awards recognise a wide range of achievement in tourism provision, such as best large and small hotels, pubs, restaurants, camping and caravan sites and cultural events. It is also an opportunity to congratulate some of the county’s sporting heroes and tourism legends for their achievements in the past year. Our 2017 event “Big Night Out” was our largest awards evening yet in the spectacular First Direct Arena in Leeds.

We are proud of our rigorous and independent judging process. The independent WRA 2017 judging panel is chaired by Colin Mellors, Pro-Vice Chancellor of York University and also includes Elaine Lemm, Food Writer, James Mitchinson, Yorkshire Post Editor and customer experience expert Mark Bradley. The panel meet to draw up a short list for each of the categories. This is followed by 6 weeks of mystery shopping undertaken by specialist companies. Finally, the judging panel spends a challenging day deciding winners.
